Getting Started

Joining our Network
Thank you for your interest in becoming a provider in the Massachusetts
Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP)/Carelon Behavioral Health (Carelon) network. Please
review our credentialing criteria.
Once you have determined that you or your organization meets the minimum credentialing requirements, please visit the
Carelon Behavioral Health website and follow
the prompts to complete a request to join the network. Please be aware that this is a request to join our network and does not constitute an offer until a contract
packet is sent for reiew and consideration. All network decisions are based on access, availability, and network standards set forth by MBHP/Carelon.
If you are not on CAQH, you will need to create a ProView account and give Carelon permission to view and process
your application.
MBHP/Carelon promotes the online universal credentialing process offered by CAQH at no cost to the provider. This service helps providers reduce credentialing administration
and paperwork. Please access the CAQH website, then review your application for completeness, upload required documents,
and ensure your attestation is current.
If you are approved and credentialed, you will receive a notice stating your approval and contract effective date. As part of the application process,
the organization is not required to make available: 1) references, 2) recommendations, and 3) peer-review-protected information.
Throughout the credentialing process, practitioners have the following rights:
- To review information submitted to support their creentialing application (e.g., malpractice insurance carriers, state licensing boards, board certification)
- To correct erroneous information
- To receive the status of their application, upon request
Upon receipt of your request to join the network, MBHP/Carelon will review your application materials to ensure that you satisfy all provider selection criteria.
In the event that a discrepancy in information is discovered through the Primary Source Verification (PSV) process, MBHP/Carelon will contact you and request that you
clarify the discrepancy in writing within 10 business days of the notification. These responses should be sent, within the appropriate timeframes, directly to the individual at MBHP/Carelon who contacted you for clarification.
The additional information will be reviewed, and MBHP/Carelon will document the receipt of corrected information in the credentialing file.
